I liked this speed controller for 2 reasons: First the control knob allows for the best fine tuning of the Hitachi’s speed and second, it acts like an extension cord for my Hitachi. But I found this speed controller did the best job of “taming” my Hitachi.

The Lutron comes in black or white colors and does a very good job of varying the Hitachi’s speed. The downside pointed out by one reviewer is that it is very difficult to get the slider at the exact speed setting desired. The thing that I noticed about the Luton is that while being very good at varying the speed, it does not have the feature of being extension cord. You’ll notice in the picture that the Lutron has it’s Hitachi outlet plug on top of its own plug, so you can’t use it as an extension to Hitachi’s power cord.
